Ace a Virtual Job Fair.
We had never thought that Virtual Platforms could replace in-person activities so drastically. But yes, as someone rightly said, “What is certain about the time is that it is uncertain”.
Today I am thrilled to express my learnings about How to be successful at the Virtual Job Fairs.
- Understand the platform in advance to ease navigation during the job fair.
- Update your profile on the platform, so that recruiters know who you are (of course, professionally)
- Research the companies participating in the virtual job fair.
- Make sure you have a reliable internet connection.
- If the candidates have the privilege to review the job openings beforehand (most of the job fairs have this option) then find which companies have opening aligning with your interest areas.
- On the job fair day, turn on your chat availability option as ‘Active’ then only recruiters can chat with you.
- Tailor your resume as per the job description mentioned by the company, so that during the chat key skills are at handy.
- If one of your target companies is attending, you can create a connection with the recruiter or representatives to follow-up with later for a more personal experience.
- Do ask for the recruiter’s email ID, send them a ‘Thank You’ email after the job fair.

- You can directly chat with the recruiter and discuss your profile.
- You can broaden your recruiter’s network by connecting with the recruiters on Linkedin.
- The most desirable outcome is you can get a JOB!
