Accurately valuing. How?

Distinguishing yourself, your offering or the situation?

I'm still steeping in recognising the value of the final founding intention of my FUNdraising (which I'm half-way through). And learned the 'hard way'! The intention reads:

'to value the distinguished nature of the offering and its potential to re-ground and renew a sense of inner and outer ‘terroir’ or home-land in a unique way, generating true wealth for all those it touches.’

With the last book I gave away many too many copies for free, feeling embarrassed about acknowledging it had a monetary, educational and literary value. But doing so made me feel generous (over-generous given I wasn't even earning enough to cover my basic needs at the time!)

My generosity didn't need to 'distinguished itself' - I was already generous with my time, attention and in pricing the book. It was the offering which needed to distinguish itself.

This book is different. As you may know if you're a connection or follower, I'm raising the funds through pre-orders so I can use a super local hybrid publisher Riverside Publishing Solutions Ltd . I'll ultimately receive more revenue, am enjoying the collaborative process and each personal interraction in raising funds represents an opportunity to value my offering (and my raison d'etre of enriching connection). So both are valued.

But that's not enough...

When the context or opportunity isn't truly valued, both the former can be lost!

This is what I learned to my cost recently (if you're aching read the 'gory details' here's a link to the story!)

The learning? That there's a certain dignity and value sometimes in holding back. In waiting and considering with laser-focused listening, intuition and courage to keep the jewel of my offering under wraps until the situation or conditions are at their most ripe!

How to value accurately? May be it's ensuring me, my offering, my environment and those I'm with are all recognised or 'distinguished' clearly?! The benefits? Already I'm improving my evaluating skills - which I strongly suspect will both increase efficiency and probably end up attracting more sales.

Trusting there is some value here for you, and wondering if you have ever 'held back' and reaped savings or benefits?
