Accountability, no one knows and it doesn't matter if you don't do the things you know you need to do...

The Lesson

Greetings from Troy,

I was working with a client, and they knew what they needed to do, but they just couldn't get the task done when they knew what they needed to get done. This was before we started working together.

They knew they needed to map out their long term retainers and packages, but they either...

A) Didn't know how

B) Kept procrastinating

The reality, they had no one to be accountable to. One of the reasons they decided they needed some help and wanted to hire someone 1:1 to fast track a few things.

Staying accountable to yourself can be difficult no matter who you are. Why? No one knows and it doesn't matter if you don't do the things you know you need to do. It's one thing having a good intention, but it's another thing bringing that intention into execution.

The Mission

My intent with Internal Success was to help folks become sharper and better paid marketers and helping business owners build their marketing systems out and build their marketing teams.

Marketing is one of the number one skills you can learn that produces a direct ROI (return-on-investment) with your efforts.

There is a huge COI (cost-of-inaction) when we shy away from learning more, and how to get our products and services in front of other folks that we KNOW we can help.

It is our ethical, moral duty and obligation to sell our services to folks that we can help get results if we're confident we can deliver those results.

Eventually this morphed into me helping consultants, experts and entrepreneurs price, package and position themselves so they can sell higher end packages and work with clients they love. Blessed to have the folks I do in my world, and if you're new here I'm excited to get to know you further too.

The Study

Association for Talent Development (ATD) Study:

This study shows that the probability of completing a goal dramatically increases with accountability. Individuals who commit to someone that they will do a task have a 65% chance of completing it, but when they schedule a specific accountability appointment with someone, the likelihood jumps to 95%

The researchers found that individuals have the following probabilities of completing a goal by taking these actions:

  • Having an idea or goal: 10% likely to complete the goal
  • Consciously deciding that you will do it: 25%
  • Deciding when you will do it: 40%
  • Planning how to do it: 50%
  • Committing to someone that you will do it: 65%
  • Having a specific accountability appointment with someone you’ve committed to: 95%

The Homework

It's homework time! With all that being said above I want you to win if we work together or not. If this email helps ya', hopefully you'll share it with a friend. Let's get into it, shall we?

  • Identify Your Top Goal: What's the one thing you've been putting off but know could move your business forward? Write it down.
  • Plan Your Next Steps: Break that goal down into 3-5 actionable steps that you can complete within the next week. Be specific.
  • Find an Accountability Partner: Share your goal with someone you trust. Whether it’s a colleague, a friend, or even me...(reply to this email with your goal you're committing to) and schedule a check-in to review your progress.
  • Set a Deadline: Decide when you will complete your goal. Commit to a date, and make it non-negotiable.

On your side,

Troy Assoignon

P.S. If you're looking to find what makes YOU radically different, I've got an offer for you. I'm looking for 3-4 new folks in 2025 that want to maximize profit, re-position a handful of offers and run profitable promotions together, that we can keep running again, and again.

Sound interesting? Fill out the application here.

That jump from 65% to 95% with accountability is huge! Shows how having a set time and person really locks in commitment. It’s easy to overlook, but planning the “how” already doubles your chances. On a related note, accountability can work wonders even outside goal-setting, helps keep projects moving faster too.
