Welcome to Making Work Accessible! This biweekly newsletter brings you content on accessibility at work - exploring practices in learning and development and human resources - from blog posts to webinars to social media sharables and more.
In this edition, we'll look back at some of the tips shared from the Inclusive Pixelation #MakingWorkAccessible #GAAD webinar, and explore some ideas on accessible events. If you're new here or just returning, welcome!
Making Work Accessible Series
Did you miss the GAAD webinar? Not a problem! I pulled together the resources on Accessibility at Work and shared several places - here on LinkedIn, on Instagram, and with more detail on my blog.
All of these great tips are coming together for something else new and exciting, coming in October for National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)! Make sure you're following Inclusive Pixelation to hear all about it.
On to the tips!
The first blog post in this series was actually the answers to a Q&A session from a live delivery of this presentation. If you're interested in a deeper dive into Making Work Accessible, check out this post as well.

Have You Seen This?
I recently learned about - and donated to the campaign for - Eventably , a new accessible events platform.
Eventably is disrupting the event management industry with its innovative, cloud-based platform to enhance inclusivity and accessibility in event participation. Our platform offers a comprehensive suite of tools that facilitate every aspect of event management—from planning and ticketing to execution and analysis.
Eventably isn’t an accessibility-focused events platform, it is an events platform built with accessibility in mind. From the UI to its features, Eventably increases the reach and inclusiveness of our customers’ events by opening opportunities for new attendees and giving them the tools to ensure they’re included.
If you're involved in any kind of event planning or management, and care about accessibility, I encourage you to take a look at what they have planned. I can't wait for the launch! This is definitely a platform I plan on using for my own events at Inclusive Pixelation .
On Inclusive Speaking
I really wanted to be able to recommend the book The Inclusive Speaker. Since I regularly speak on accessibility and disability inclusion, other speakers often ask me what they can do better to reach their diverse audience members.
But since my background is in adult education, I can't recommend a resource that perpetuates the myth of "learning styles" when there is so much research out there to debunk this outdated theory. I linked to several sources in my blog post reviewing the book.
I still found some value in the book and I think it's a good resource. However, I'll be adding some new checklists to the blog, pulled from my own experience as an inclusive trainer and speaker, to better support other speakers that want to get right to the point! I'm a huge fan of checklists, if you missed my others on accessible eLearning, ALT Text, and Captions and Transcripts.
Upcoming Events
Speaking of inclusive speaking, I'm so excited to present a new "mini-keynote" on disability etiquette for my official graduation from National Speakers Association - Las Vegas Chapter 's Speaker's Academy. If you're in Las Vegas, I would love to see you this weekend!
I'm also looking forward to presenting my new session on Writing for Accessibility at this year's Accessibility Summer Camp ! I'll be spending the rest of the day enjoying the other sessions and keeping my own accessibility skills fresh.
While I'm still touring with Accessibility for Online Learning (looking at you, ATD Greater Las Vegas and ATD Tulsa Chapter, Inc. ), I've got another new session later this month on Accessible Documents for ATD Fort Worth/Mid-Cities Chapter .

I think that's about all for this edition! If you just can't wait for the next newsletter, you can catch posts as they come out by following Inclusive Pixelation on LinkedIn or subscribing to my blog at https://inclusivepixel.com/blog/ - until next time!
