We often don't know how to address people with disabilities and in ignorance, we can hurt someone. Today, I am sharing a few best practices for writing inclusive content :
Example: A person who uses a wheelchair rather than wheelchair-bound
Example: Use person with a disability, people with disabilities rather than disabled person and the diasabled
Example : Use person with a brain injury rather than brain-damaged. Burn survivor rather than burn victim.
Example: Use people without disabilities rather than able-bodied, normal, healthy or whole.
Example: It's not important to share that the person is of small stature if the focus of the story is on how smartly they resolve team conflicts.
How do you keep your content inclusive? Do share in the comments.
