Is access to nature a luxury?

I was very excited to have a question included on the brilliant Outrage + Optimism podcast.
They have been doing an excellent mini series on 'Our story of nature: from rupture to reconnection'. And their most recent episode was answering questions from listeners, like me.
I ask an overly long and rambling question (which will be no surprise to those of you that know me!):
"There is a spectrum of connectedness on people's engagement with the more-than-human. Some people feel deeply interconnected with life around them, some don't trust anything that isn't wrapped in plastic. Nature is also positioned as a luxury.
Do you see this as moving in a similar way to sustainability, where it gets branded as a middle class premium. Do we have more radical options to feeling part of the wider and wilder living world."
Ugh. I get the same feeling reading this back as I did listening to my first podcast interview (shared at the bottom of this article). I get what I'm trying to say but why did I try to say it like that?!?
In short, what I meant to ask was: 'Is access to nature a luxury'
Fortunately, Paul Dickinson was able to unpick my meaning behind the question and the he and the other hosts ( Dr. Christian Fillinger
My first podcast interview - with huge thanks to JK (Jennie-Kate) McQuinn for being an excellent host and making this easy for me.

8 个月I'm so intrigued Jon Conradi how/which bits would you say differently in both situations? I felt you were so eloquent in your reflections and others have fed back that they loved this episode (its good to have a range of communication styles exploring topics like this.) I love how you speak of the natural self critique process though.
