Access Global Logistics Delivers Tailor-Made Solution For A Shipyard In Brazilian Amazon
WCA Projects
WCA Projects is an alliance comprising many of the world’s most experienced independent project forwarders
Due to the lowest water levels ever recorded in the Amazon Rivers, Access Global provided a tailor-made solution to a shipyard customer.
The final destination was Manaus, but the breakbulk vessel couldn’t reach Manaus port directly because the river canal's draught was severely reduced from 25 meters to just 11 meters. Manaus port was then closed with no operations during a few months, and we accepted the challenge to develop a complex logistics solution for an oversized project cargo.
First, a MPP breakbulk vessel was chartered from Antwerp to Outeiro port in Belém, Pará. Then, we transloaded cargo from ship-to-barge. The barge voyage was expected to last 7 days across many rivers, but heavy rains and a couple storms forced the barge to berth and stop in safer areas waiting for better weather conditions. Finally, the voyage lasted 10 days and finished her journey to port of Manaus within customer’s deadline, safely and attending client needs. Barge LOA was 80 meters with 24 meters Beam.
