The good news??...minority-owned firms in the U.S. rose to 8 million according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
More good news??...The number of African-American small business owners in the United States has increased by an awe-inspiring 400% in just a year—according to Guidant Financial, a small business financing company, who surveyed more than 2600 small business owners and entrepreneurs.
So what’s the problem? 80% of African-American small business owners said lack of capital was the most challenging aspect of running their business. This is 10% higher than the average small business owner.
