ACCES on the 2024 Federal Budget
ACCES Employment
ACCES Employment is a leader in connecting employers with qualified employees from diverse backgrounds.
We recognize the significance of the 2024 federal budget which identified a number of crucial investments including affordable housing, healthcare, childcare, and economic growth through the support of small and medium businesses and the creation of good jobs.
At a time we are facing a labour shortage in key sectors from health care to construction, a skilled, productive workforce is foundational in order to achieve a better Canada.
With a budget largely centred around home-building, we are encouraged by the prospect of multi-government engagement to expedite construction and the rapid increase of housing supply. We foresee our experience skilling up tradespeople and quickly moving them into sectors like construction will remain a vital component to help with the vast labour shortage here.
The $77.1?million future investment to effectively integrate internationally educated health care professionals into Canada's health workforce is also noted, as we have seen significant contributions made by skilled newcomers through our Healthcare Connections program that has multilateral support.?This along with $50 million to streamline foreign credentialing in the health sector and trades will help remove long-standing barriers.
We also see important steps taken to support small and medium-sized businesses to stay competitive and to help increase productivity. With programs that specifically support newcomer entrepreneurs, we have seen first-hand the contributions they make.
With Millennials and Gen Z now making up the majority of the Canada's labour force, investments in skills training,? job placement and employment support through the $351.2?million in a Youth Employment and Skills Strategy is essential, and we continue to support and advocate for youth through their career pathways.
And finally, we know that diversity is our strength.

87% of our clients are newcomers - which includes asylum seekers and refugees - working hard to build a new life in this country. The investment to remove barriers for them to enter the labour market are good initial steps, with continued support needed.
To develop a healthy and robust labour force, we remain committed to continued engagement with governments and partners in order to achieve a truly inclusive workforce that will drive our economy toward growth.
