ACCEPTING CRITICISM

We can only grow when we accept criticism. But easier said than done?

Do you know what gets in the way of accepting criticism? Ego!

This ego is inflated by a lot of things around us that influence us.

So often I feel that I am entitled to respect, and then I remind myself that it is not a right. This is how I control my ego – through logical self-talk.

It does not mean disrespect if people do not accept my point of view. And if people criticise me, no matter what their intention is, it would help me grow. 

My critics are my greatest friends!

Recently I received criticism about my outlook on life on creating value for others. I am a minimalist with very few needs, and I focus on value, not money and material things. Those who criticised me helped me to understand the outlook of people who are completely materialistic. While I am happy being a minimalist, I do understand why many people have become highly materialistic.

Open up the mind to listen to what others have to say. Like it or not, take it or not, just listen. Think about it. 

Criticism is what helped me grow. I am sure it will help you too. Take it constructively and look at whether the criticism will help you to grow. If it does, take it, else, drop it and move on!

BOOK I AM READING

I decided to study Satya Nadella - how an Indian moved to the USA and is now the CEO of Microsoft. So, I got the book Hit Refresh from Amazon. The book has a foreword by Bill Gates. I am thoroughly enjoying this book and getting inspired by Satya’s story!
