Acceptance of truth or reality is not a human trait. We tend to assume too much and take too much for granted. I am reminded of a story I heard as a child. It ends on a funny note but gives valuable insight into human desire to continue living no matter what the case be. The human being in this narrative has been replaced by a pig to make the end palatable (in lighter vein).
God once met this handsome young pig, who had been dating and courting his lady love. The Almighty offered to take him in his fold, to the heavens, and to educate him about the blissful path of reality. But the pig said, Well, God, thank you for the offer, but I’m too young, I haven’t seen anything so far. Not enjoyed life at all. Please let me marry. I’ve heard it’s a beautiful experience to be married. God said, Okay, if that’s what you want, and left. Some years later He returned, but the pig had just begun to taste fatherhood. Doting in the affection of his newborn, he sought Gods permission. Benign as God always is, the wish was granted and he left again to return a few years later but the pig had obligations. Daughters and sons to educate, marry & settle. OK, I'll come later! Several years on, God returned, but the pig wasn't ready yet, because there were grandchildren to bother. Much later, God said! Are you ready now? Guess the pig's response. "Will I get shit there? " God - 'Haven't you had enough of it already.'
