Accept the compliment

Accept the compliment

Hi Reader,

I used to struggle with accepting compliments. Whenever someone praised my work, I’d quickly brush it off with, “Oh, it wasn’t a big deal, no worries.” It felt like the humble, non-braggy thing to do, but over time, I realized it was undermining my contributions and making me seem less confident.

How you respond to compliments can significantly impact how others perceive you. Don’t miss this opportunity to acknowledge your work in an authentic and genuine way.

?? Tip of the Day

Here are a few scripts to try the next time you receive a compliment:

Compliment: “Great job on the presentation!”

Your response: “Thank you, I’m glad you found it useful!”

Compliment: “You handled that situation really well.”

Response: “Thanks, I really appreciate you taking the time to share that feedback. It was a difficult situation but I’m happy we got through it!”

Compliment: “Your work on this project has been fantastic.”

Response: “Thank you, I’m really proud of what we achieved!”

Don’t forget: Even a simple “thank you” is enough, as long as you say it in a genuine way and with a positive attitude. :)
