Accelerating Digital Business Transformation

Cybercriminals are always looking for new vulnerabilities and newly discovered attack methods to bypass cybersecurity protections. Defenders must be vigilant and develop and deploy updated defence technologies to stay ahead of the attackers. This applies to the companies creating defence tools and to MSPs using them to defend their clients.

At their recent Secured.22 virtual customer conference, Barracuda announced several new product innovations that will interest MSPs. The new offerings are in the areas of zero trust access, email protection, XDR, and data protection for cloud data. Read on for a summary of the four new offerings, with links to more info on the Barracuda site. As always, if you want to discuss these items or any other cybersecurity topic, then contact us to arrange a chat with an expert.

Securing Remote Workforces

Elevated levels of remote work are here to stay. Primarily via hybrid working models that many organisations are adopting. Cybercriminals are looking to exploit the extended attack surface that increased remote working provides. Adopting a zero-trust defence posture is a good way to mitigate this enhanced threat.

An update to Barracuda CloudGen Access now includes web security to protect users no matter where they work. It does this by pushing security controls out to endpoints no matter where they are. Web security in CloudGen Access roams along with the endpoint and doesn’t add additional latency while ensuring the protection normally associated with highly controlled corporate networks. Read more details via this Barracuda press release and this informative Q&A with Sinan Eren, the VP of Zero Trust at Barracuda.

Hardening the Microsoft 365 Environment

The move to Microsoft 365 cloud tools doesn’t remove the need for organisations and their MSP partners to ensure that data in the cloud services is secure. If anything, the move to 365 has expanded the attack surface by encouraging users to access it from anywhere and via multiple devices. MSPs and organisations must protect workloads and data in collaboration tools such as OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams. Doing this requires security strategies and tools built to integrate with the Microsoft cloud.

Now with Zero Trust Access, Barracuda Email Protection hardens Microsoft 365 environments by continuously verifying access requests and only allowing the right users to access the right resources. See the press release and the Q&A with Sinan Eren, the VP of Zero Trust at Barracuda, to get more details on how this works and why it’s so important.

Enhancing XDR integrations

Barracuda’s eXtended visibility, Detection & Response (XDR) platform enables MSPs to deliver 24x7 SOC (Security Operations Centre) services to their clients without building and maintaining a state-of-the-art SOC facility. Having a SOC staffed by cybersecurity experts that continuously monitor networks and systems is essential in the current threat environment.

New integration between Barracuda XDR and CloudGen Firewall allows MSPs to gain visibility and insights by offering 24×7 SOC services that increase efficiency by reducing product silos, mitigating alert fatigue, and streamlining the management of their customer’s environments. This provides a premier cybersecurity service for their customers via industry-leading Barracuda services and tools. To learn more, see this press release and this blog post.

Backing Up Data Located in the Cloud

Data that organisations have in Microsoft 365 still needs to be backed up. It’s the responsibility of the organisations using the cloud services. MSPs and their clients cannot assume that Microsoft will ensure their data is safe.

Now available in Azure Marketplace for channel partners that want to take advantage of simplified and streamlined procurement and deployment processes, Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup delivers a fast search and restore experience for Microsoft 365 data, including Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and OneDrive.

Cloud data backup is a growth area that MSPs will want to take advantage of with their current clients, and they can use the service to meet with potential new clients to grow their MSP business. See the Barracuda press release to read more about the growth of the cloud data protection business, and read this Q&A with Sr. Product Manager Shawn Lubahn to discover what’s new from the Barracuda data protection team.
