Accelerate India-Nordic Action: Advancing Gender Equality
The Modern India (Det Moderne India)
DMI is a business driven climate initiative where the sustainability goals and DEIB are the frameworks of our activities
??Happy International Women's Day! ??
Today, we celebrate the pioneers, allies, and changemakers advancing gender equality across industries.
The theme for International Women’s Day 2025—"Accelerate Action"—is a call to move beyond conversations and into real, lasting change. While progress has been made, gender disparities in leadership and tech remain a global challenge.
At Det Moderne India (DMI), we believe that collaboration is key to driving real transformation.
The Nordic countries are internationally recognized for their progressive gender-equal policies, yet they struggle with women’s STEM and tech leadership representation. In contrast, India leads with one of the highest percentages of women in IT (35%), but deep-rooted cultural and structural barriers still limit their rise to leadership roles.
In February, we launched a special podcast series,
?? "India’s IT Gender Balance: A Model for the Nordics"
This series dives into India’s success in fostering gender diversity in IT and what Nordic countries can learn from its initiatives. It examines the challenges, cultural barriers, and innovative solutions contributing to a more gender-balanced workforce in Indian IT companies.
Alongside this, our series "Challenges in Recruiting Women" explores the barriers and breakthroughs in hiring and retaining women across industries. Each episode delves into the realities of recruiting, retaining, and advancing women—examining the role of policy, corporate responsibility, mentorship, and leadership in driving gender equity.
The Nordic Council of Ministers funds both podcast series.
