ACCA Exam Strategy: Inspired by 'Functions of Management'
If you want to reach somewhere, you do not get there just by sitting in a car. You would need to learn driving, and also, there is going to be a journey afterwards to reach your destination. During this course, you may face obstacles, but you never came back halfway. So, for ACCA exams as well, you can not accomplish anything by only dreaming about it. There is going to be a long journey, so be ready for it before you take off!
I am sure that most of the commerce students have studied 'Business Studies' subject during their school. And as we remember, the complete study of the subject is based on 'Functions of Management'. Inspired by the same process, we can also relate the ACCA preparations to it. The process starts with 'Planning' and ends with 'Controlling'.
Now, you must be wondering how they are related? So, I'll take you through my preparation strategy to show you all the relation. When I used to prepare for exams, I followed the below steps:
Planning:
1. Deciding which paper to attempt.
2. How much time do I have to prepare?
Organising: Now, it is time to equip yourself with tools and methods. Before starting my preparation for the exam, I gathered all the resources I would require for my studies. I made sure that the following was always handy with me during my preparation.
1) Technical articles
2) Past papers
3) Examiner Report
4) Study text
5) Exam kit
6) Webinars
Staffing: Any coaching, training, online recordings or classes if you want to take. But still, only coaching is not enough, SELF STUDY IS VERY IMPORTANT.
Directing: It is a crucial step where you have to do a real study to clear your exam. Only the above three steps would not be enough to pass the exam. GIVE YOURSELF ENOUGH TIME TO PREPARE FOR THE EXAM. The more you practise more chances that you will end up succeeding.
As I mentioned in my Interview, I use to solve past year papers and exam kit multiple times. I used to sleep for only 5-6 hours per day, and this continued for many days. YOU WILL PASS when you work for it.
Controlling: This is my favourite part of the whole process, DO MOCKS!
And If, they are not available to you then make your own, and check against your standards. But MOST IMPORTANTLY, take corrective action.
When I appeared for 'SBR', it was a new paper changed from 'P2 to SBR'. So, I created mocks on my own using the above materials and solved them and then checked them. I am mentioning this because from 2020-21, there is a change in the exam syllabus.
I am sure that if you follow the process and put in honest hard work, clearing ACCA exams would become easy for you.
Never complain about resources because there are enough resources to PASS!
