What do love, money, and promises all have in common?

I remember my stepfather many years ago (1970s) had a question from my mom, just as he had rolled in from a very long road trip.

She waited about 20 minutes but did remind him that he had promised her a dinner out (Saturday night).

He was a Teamster and a dedicated long-haul truck driver. She was an RN-Charge Nurse Med-Surg floor.

Both had good jobs, but they had been buckling down and budgeting to do some major renovations in our home.

Rather than say to my mother, "this isn't in the budget", he mentioned that she was right and told her to be "ready to go" for 6PM.

My mother told me that he went out, found one of his friends working a project, asked him if he needed "help".

He dug a ditch for $50 so her could keep his promise to my mother.

Many of us are being challenged for money but there is always a path to income.

Life is a “project”.
