“On time is late and early is on time.” Danny Iny, founder of Mirasee Educational Programs for Entrepreneurs and author of several business books. His latest, just coming out,?Online Courses??A Business Parable. I am a student in his ACES program and love the tons of expertise I’m getting.?
Last week I discussed that it’s crucial for us to know ourselves, both the good and the bad, and sometimes it’s hard to figure out exactly what is within because we’re so outer directed.?We’ve never been taught to take the time to do inner exploration?and ask ourselves some questions like,
“Who the heck am I?
What are my goals, dreams?
Who are the people and what are the things that are important to me?
What is it that lights me up?”
Those are the things you must know because if you don’t know yourself, neither will your customer or your client.
Authenticity and transparency are everything.
To win in the business world these days,?we must come from who we are. That’s the key. If you assume a false persona, your clients are not going to understand who you are, and therefore they’re not going to stay with you. You want your customers, your clients to stay with you so you can initially give them what they think they want, and then what they really need!
So it’s important to know where you’ve come from because those ancient roots can often have created blocks that prevent you from your success. They hide in your unconscious mind so you’re
not aware of them.
They come to the surface when you say, “Oh, I don’t want to deal with that.” Or, “That’s too difficult.” Or, “Somebody else has to take care of that.”?You pretend like it’s not your responsibility. The only problem is, you have swept all that stuff under the carpet so you can’t see it. After a while, you’re going to trip over it because it shouldn’t be there. And it’s going to stop you, or at least slow you down.
That’s the thing about memory- very often we don’t think about our past consciously and yet it’s sitting back there like a lump in your mind, blocking you from moving ahead.?All the ‘old tapes,’ the negative self-talk are streaming along, under the surface of conscious thoughts, affecting everything you do.
For years, I remember thinking that someday ‘my ship would come in’ and I’d find the perfect way to make lots of money. But did I actually start DOING something to make it happen? Nooo. I was in my ‘advanced’ spiritual state, waiting for fulfilment!
That’s why I say it’s so important to get in touch with yourself. It’s not easy, I’m not going to lie. I’m
not going to say this is fun, initially. But if you hang in there, do the work, after a while it gets to be so comforting and so wonderful that you can’t imagine a day passing by when you didn’t spend some quiet time reflecting on yourself, your day’s activities and interactions, and learning more about who you really are.?Life here is an ongoing process of self-discovery which can be shocking, scary, exciting and enlightening, all wrapped up in each period of what I call ‘sacred time’.
But, but at first, it can be challenging. I understand that. That’s why you need a teacher, that’s why you need a support system. That’s why you need someone who’s been there, done that and can support you through your questions, your difficulties and the issues that come up.
Now, let’s talk about?your niche and your business model. Once you have a sense of who you are, then you can find your people, the people that you’re going to draw to you by being YOU in your social media posts, blogs, talks, articles, networking gatherings, etc. They get to know you and say “Yes, this person has exactly what I need.” And they will buy whatever you have to offer.?
If that’s not happening for you yet, let’s look at why that might be the case:
When I became an interfaith minister I had no idea what I was going to do. But I really did need to make some money. And i saw other people in my ordination class performing weddings and funerals and they were making money. I said “Wow this is great, I’m going to do that.” And for many years, I performed all kinds of ceremonies, and I made money, no question. But after just so many guerrilla brides and deranged mothers, (it’s an emotional time let’s face it, they’re lovely people I’m not putting anybody down, but it can be a very stressful time, and all kinds of crazy things can happen which have for me–maybe I’ll tell you those stories another time!), I wasn’t really enjoying what I was doing but I was doing it because I made money. However, my heart was no longer in it.
2. Would you rather write a blog or do a podcast??Would you rather write a book, or give a speech? Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Would you rather not be in the public eye, or do you love an audience? I fortunately swing both ways! What I really love to do is write and teach– that’s my passion. You want your business to be a natural extension of your personality.

?So, if you would much rather be sitting in front of your computer making content rather than gladhanding potential customers, and if that is counter to what your business is, you’ve got an issue. This is a big issue. And I know it’s a difficult issue because you can’t just say “Well, it’s not my passion so I’m going to go do something else” when you’ve already created a business that is bringing in money. I understand that.
But forcing yourself to do things you really don’t like creates a great deal of inner turmoil. And if you know me, I’m the stress-free queen, I want to get rid of the stress in your life. I want to help you resolve those issues.
3. When you find your passion, make it a Side Hustle. Start doing it, little by little on the side, (evenings, weekends) just like I was doing my weddings on the weekends so during the week I could be writing my book, which I did. I love creating content, writing poetry, ebooks. I was able to do that, because I could segment my time for those things.
Now again I know it’s a difficult decision, but believe me, when you do, you don’t have to do it all instantly. You don’t have to come up with a whole business plan and get it all going tomorrow. But?give yourself a chance?to plot it out– write it down, and give yourself little tiny steps to get there. And it’ll change your life. I mean, what is more valuable, staying in the same situation and being miserable, or being a little adventurous and going out there and trying something new?
Everybody makes mistakes.?I was just listening today to a talk about entrepreneurship. If you think you go from start-up to success in a straight line, forget about it!?That’s not the way it works. It’s this curly, squiggly thing that goes up and down but will finally take you to the top,?If you keep going?despite the roadblocks that you come up against. That’s the magic trick!
What I want to get across to you today is?the importance of enjoying your work and sticking with it through thick and thin.?You want to be able to wake up in the morning and say, “Oh, I can’t wait to get to the office, (which is probably your desk or kitchen table these days) I can’t wait to sit down and start working, making phone calls.” Whatever it is you have to do it because you’ve got ideas, your creativity is flowing and you’re excited.
That’s a great sign that you’re in the right business. If that’s not happening to you then i hope that you go within, get still and find what your passion is. Then see if you can start giving yourself a chance to move into that little by little.
4. What’s the?best way to become an expert?in anything is to read blogs, read books, attend workshops, webinars online. Use Google search on your particular topic. Whatever it is, put it in the search box and see what comes up. You can ask Google to send you a notice whenever your subject comes up.
5. Survey your clients, friends, and strangers and ask them what they want, what are they looking for, what do they feel they need, so that you can give it to them. That will skyrocket your new enterprise once you set it up. It takes time, you have to make the effort to stop and talk to people.?No business grows quickly without that interpersonal relationship, so nurture your prospective clients and they will reciprocate gladly!
These are just a few ideas to get you inspired to up your business game (if you love your current business) or start a side hustle doing your passion so you can eventually sell your business and move into the work that fires you up!
If you liked what I had to say please share it with other women who might benefit from these ideas.
I always tell you that I’m here for you. I’m here because I want to offer you the awareness that you have everything you need right inside of you.
