Abu Cassim appointed to ABAN Board
Port Louis, Mauritius, March 1, 2022 - The African Business Angel Network (ABAN) has appointed Abu Cassim to its Board, effective January 2022.
Abu will be joining ABAN for a period of 3 years to work with other board members, including Tomi Davies (President, ABAN), Rebecca Enonchong (Treasurer, ABAN), Ben White (Independent, ABAN), Fadilah Tchoumba (Secretary-General, ABAN), Khaled Ismail (HIMangel, Egypt), Hannah Subayi Kamuanga (DRC Impact Angels, DRC), Stephen Gugu (VBAN, Kenya), Yemi Keri (Rising Tide Africa, Nigeria), Alexandria Fraser (Dazzle Angels, South Africa), Tarek El Kady (Alex Angels, Egypt), Maneme Diop (Dakar Network Angels, Senegal); and ABAN’s advisors Laila Macharia, Cadence Johnson, David Van Dijk and Jacopo Losso.?
Abu is founder of Jozi Angels, a network of angel investors based in Johannesburg, South Africa that invests their personal funds in innovative early stage companies, helping them grow through assets, knowledge, networks and capital.

Abu has previously started a number of other companies, including Ground Flr, an online platform that he scaled to 37 countries before exiting. Abu also has an MBA from IE Business School and prior to that spent almost ten years in asset management, including a five year stint in Dubai. He was born and brought up in Johannesburg but has also lived in Madrid, Spain.
Having grown up in a family business, entrepreneurship is in his blood. The family business recently turned 82 years old and has been through many pivots to survive and thrive. His mindset has been shaped by his diverse experiences and he brings a global perspective to the work he is doing in the startup space.
With a network of 29 investors in the network, Jozi Angels Https://www.joziangels.co.za/ ?have made a combined 47 early stage investments. He also is founder and Fund Executive at Additiv Capital, an early-stage FinTech fund.
