Abstracts for Papers on Student Privacy Due Friday

Abstracts for Papers on Student Privacy Due Friday

You’ve got until 6 January to submit your abstract on Balancing Student Privacy and Technology Integration in Higher Education. The special edition of the British Journal of Educational Technology (BJET) will be guest edited by Dr. Stephanie J. Blackmon of William & Mary and Dr. Claire H. Major of the The University of Alabama .

“Student privacy is an integral aspect of technology integration in higher education, but achieving student privacy while integrating technology is more difficult than it may seem. Some of the very functionalities that facilitate community and engagement in courses can also be areas of ambiguity at best and areas of infraction at worst for student privacy,” reads the call for papers. “From learning analytics to learning management systems (LMSs), the acceleration of technology in higher education and the importance of the privacy considerations for that technology cannot be overstated.”

While the deadline is close at hand, scholars working in the field of student privacy are expected to submit on an abstract of around 250 words that includes an introduction of one or two sentences stating the research aims and educational context of the research along with a brief summary of the data collection methodology and a summary of the outcomes. Full papers are not required until March.
