Route map to asset optimization: the strategic role of knowledge and tools to achieve business goals at different stages of the asset life.
In DNV GL we believe that by combining knowledge, experience and tools developed over more than 30 years of wind energy activity, is possible to help owners and operators improve the way their assets operate. To support the industry we have designed the Route Map to Asset Optimization and the presentation offers an overview of this approach. The talk explains the logic behind the Route Map and presents some of the technical deliverables including lifetime assessment. The approach has been designed keeping in mind the needs of owners and operators in an industry where efficiency is becoming more and more important and in a market where revenue generated from wind energy assets is continuously challenged. The presentation focuses on the role of knowledge and tools involved in preconstruction, turbine design and post construction engineering as key to achieve the strategic goals of owners, operators and investors.
The route map presented is divided in 3 phases and multiple tasks. Following an overall description, the presentation will focus on the following topics:
- Lifetime assessment: an overview of the techniques at different stages of the farm lifecycle
- Windfarm control techniques: an opportunity to maximize profit
The technical insights will be contextualized using strategic models as a support to highlight the different sources of competitive advantage.
