Absolute Disaster... Or Is It?
Last Thursday, I got off a call late. I had five minutes to pack up and make it to the train.
And I had to make this train—because I was heading to watch my daughter at her swimming class.
So, like a madman, I packed up and bolted out the door.
Ten meters from the train, it felt like someone had sniped my calf.
Turns out, I’d aggravated an old injury.
Had treatment on Friday, then—thinking it was just a minor strain—I hit BJJ.
Near the end of the session... POP.
Now, this has fu**ed one of my major missions this year: my 50-miler in April. [run]
How many times have you had a plan derailed?
How many times have you been hit with a curveball?
Probably more times than you can count. Me too.
Life is a series of curveballs—and how you handle them is what matters.
Because if you don’t handle them well?
? You get emotional. ? You get stressed. ? You make bad decisions. ? You throw yourself a pity party. ? You stall your own progress.
One of the core values we teach men inside The Movement (our
educational membership) is to lead themselves to a higher level.
So instead of getting lost in the setback:
? Find the positive. ? Make the decisions you need to. ? Lead yourself around the problem. ? Don’t bury your head in the sand.
When you start handling setbacks like this, you stop letting them derail your mission.
The mission continues.
