The Absolute Best Years Of My Life

The Absolute Best Years Of My Life

At this stage of my life, I hear all about how “you have to take action”. Which is great advice, but actually comes with significant challenges and a lot of times, no direction! A LITTLE HELP MAYBE?! It is a continuous struggle! Have you ever thought about what it takes to “take action”? It takes humility, courage, and several other things that come from within, if you even have it to start with!

I recently spoke in front of a group where I asked the question, “How or what emotion did you feel after taking action?”

Asking this simple question gave me assurance that going boldly, figuring things out on the way, and failing more often than not, meant that 2019 is the year I’m TAKING MASSIVE ACTION.

But before I give you the answers to the question presented, I wanted to share the answers of those that didn’t take action.

·        Pain

·        Regret

These are two of the worst words in the dictionary! Although, I’m still in awe that “jorts” made it in the English dictionary.

Pain and regret can put individuals in a very dark place. Sometimes without any of their own doing. It’s important for us to hear this and create change for ourselves. If you are in this place of pain and regret, I hope you see this message and the words that follow.

Taking action in the challenges you face, whether mental or physical, IT’S WORTH IT.

Check out what the rest of the group had to say about the emotion they felt when taking action:

·        Self-worth

·        Amazing

·        Effective

·        Free

·        Proud

·        Transformation

·        Winning

·        Living To The Fullest

·        Outside My Comfort Zone

How powerful are those words?!? Whether that action was big or small, these emotions change us. They change us to take action more often than not. They encourage us to be there for others, serve others and help others take action!

The next time you encounter a choice that is unusual or not preferred, think back to the words above. Maybe it’s dinner with someone you wouldn’t normally associate with? Maybe it’s a job that you wouldn’t normally perform? Maybe it’s saying hello to that person you’ve walked by every day without saying a word to (I’m guilty too).

Taking action just might mean the difference between pain & regret, or better yet and the best answer I received from my original question…The Absolute Best Years Of My Life.

Solid advice, Mitch. Thanks for sharing. I often summarize with "comfort is followed closely by complacency."
