Here are 10 facts that the students submitted which reflect the most interesting thing they have learned on their studies to date:
Simon Burns (UWE):
The latest American Workplace review shows that?70%?of US employees currently feel disengaged, they estimate the cost through lost productivity to be c.$450 million?a year! The key reason cited is quality of management... I find this staggering and am bordering obsessive about contemplating how organisations can improve leadership capability and the potential impact that could have!
Hayleigh Ward (UWE):
The most interesting fact I have found since starting the masters is in the CIPD learning and development survey, 50% of the companies asked only measured satisfaction when doing training evaluations. This is fascinating to me, as I strongly believe people are the backbone to organisations and yet training satisfaction doesn’t measure the quality or effectiveness of the training at all and so, doesn’t give a good representation of whether the company is actually developing their staff.
Namita Pezheri (KCL):
The concept of a growth mindset that glorifies ‘learning’ profoundly changed my perspective of success, apart from enhancing my self-confidence and nurturing a keen eye for knowledge on a daily basis. Carol Dweck’s findings make me proud about my ability to grow and better value Sten10’s initiative to provide this wonderful opportunity for students by removing the financial hurdle!
Ana Cristina Barquero (UCL):
Cognitive ability is highly correlated to job performance. Therefore, it is imperative for I-O psychologists to help translate this into fair and inclusive methods of selection.

Arpita Deshmukh (Kent):
Cultural diversity plays a huge role in the decision-making process in organisations. I find it fascinating because the amount of information diversity can reduce is considerable and I have only now actually realized the gravity of the cultural diversity in decision making committees of organisations.?
Shravya Mangalore Harish (Kingston):
One thing that fascinates me is the role that personality could play in team collaboration, dynamics, creativity and leadership because so many things could change - from better performance to a better understanding of each other among the cohort (In other words, better interpersonal relationships).?
Lakshini Kurukulasooriya (Kingston):
The learnings and the empirical research in this Occupational and Business Psychology MSc helped me to enhance my consulting expertise and knowledge and offer more humane solutions to maximise contributions on human capital.?Further, this qualification will facilitate my progression from an Organisational Design Consultant with applied knowledge to an expert with insightful knowledge and learning in human behavioural psychology for organisational success.
Jai Vyas (Kingston):
It seems like a small thing, but I have learnt that organisations can accomplish great things by treating employees as 'humans' and less as 'resources'. Investing in building truly, holistically inclusive and empowering cultures is, in my opinion, a way of opening up all kinds of possibilities for growth.
Mohit Jain (Nottingham):
The type of music we listen to has an impact on our perception of the world. It's an interesting fact that music influences perception and inspires change. Music is so powerful to humans. It helps connect and attract people of the same energy. I also reflected on my music choices and how it has influenced my perception of the world.
Chloe Butcher (Sussex):
The most interesting fact that I have learnt during my masters is that even a phenomenon as?negative as hubris can possess benefits, such as increasing innovation (Galasso & Simcoe, 2011;?Picone et al., 2021). I find this fact so fascinating as it caused me to reflect on the way in which psychology can push us to polarise our beliefs, emphasising the importance of staying open minded and considering all possible components of phenomena.
