Above and Beyond (and Oops)!

Above and Beyond (and Oops)!

Since the beginning, Sorted and Styled's vision has grown and evolved. What started as a small, personalized home organization business has scaled to include a team of five talented organizers. This growth has allowed us to work with high-profile clients, including professional athletes and celebrities. We've also embraced the power of social media, incorporating content creation into every project. Instagram and TikTok are now key tools in sharing our work, connecting with new clients, and driving the ongoing success of the business.

At Sorted and Styled, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service. We’re always ready to go the extra mile. But every now and then, going above and beyond comes with a bit of risk—like the time we tried to move a Frame TV for a client and ended up learning a very expensive lesson.

It all started on what was supposed to be a straightforward project. The client had asked us to transform their living room into a polished yet functional space. They wanted the area to flow better, and part of that meant relocating their artfully mounted Frame TV to a different wall. Now, let’s be clear: moving TVs isn’t typically in our job description. But the client was in a time crunch, and we wanted to help them see their vision through. That's when we volunteered to handle the task. After all, how hard could it be to take down a TV and remount it? Famous last words.

As we detached the TV from the wall, the unthinkable happened. The TV slipped from Jamie's hand and hit the edge of a table. A loud crack echoed through the room, and everyone froze and panic set in. We knew it wasn’t really our responsibility to move the TV in the first place, but we had taken it on in good faith. Instead of dwelling on the mishap, we immediately shifted to problem-solving mode. After a brief team huddle (and some Googling), we found the exact model of the Frame TV—and lucky for us, it was on sale! We wasted no time ordering a replacement and, when it arrived, had it professionally mounted by experts this time. The client was incredibly gracious about the whole ordeal and even joked, “At least I got an upgrade out of it!”

In the end, the living room turned out beautifully, and the new Frame TV became the centerpiece of the space, seamlessly blending function and style. While it was an expensive lesson for us, it was a reminder that accidents happen, even when you’re trying your best.

At Sorted and Styled, we’re all about making things right, even when things don’t go perfectly. And now, we have a team rule: TVs are strictly for the professionals!

I love it when no good deed goes unpunished and turns into a redemption story.?

There’s no worse feeling than putting your heart into trying to help someone, only to have it backfire in the most unexpected way.?

What makes this story resonate isn’t the mishap itself but the way it was handled. It would have been easy to make up an excuse or place blame. Instead of pointing fingers or dwelling on the blunder, the team sprang into action, solving the problem with grace and determination. By replacing the TV and ensuring the job was completed professionally, they turned an “oops” moment into a showcase of integrity and commitment to service.

It’s also a good reminder of how we handle other people’s mistakes. Do we extend grace and understanding, recognizing that accidents happen even with the best intentions? Or do we jump straight to anger, forgetting that we’ve all had our moments of missteps? The client in this story chose grace, and it made all the difference, turning what could have been a tense situation into a collaborative solution.

In the end, the client was happy, the room was stunning, and the team learned a valuable lesson. Sometimes, the road to redemption is paved with cracked TVs—but it’s how you navigate it that truly matters.

You did absolutely the right thing on both counts-trying to be helpful in a time crunch and then owning up to and fixing an error on your part. Kudos to you and your staff. A costly mistake but it will repay itself many times over in recommendations and karma.
