Abiding and Guiding

Romans 6:11

Romans 6:11 (NASB)

11 “Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”

I am being taught what the guidance of the Holy Spirit is. Now that Christ is dwelling in my heart, His voice speaks, and I can hear it; and oh, what an unspeakable privilege this is! May I be wholly given to hearing and obeying His voice. I desire to present myself as a living sacrifice to Him, to do His bidding; but He alone can make me do this, and to Him I commit it.

Lord Jesus, You died to make me wholly Yours. Now, I pray You, accomplish this mighty work and let no hindering thing remain!

How blessed it is to know myself “dead to sin” and “alive unto God” (Romans 6:11)! It is such a wondrous blessing that, if God had not declared it, I would not dare to dream of it. But oh, praise His name! He has declared that for this very purpose Christ died, so that I, being “dead to sins might live unto righteousness.” And, taking my place at the foot of the cross, I boldly declare that what He died to accomplish is accomplished.

It is all in Christ. Oh, how my soul hangs upon this! Christ in me and I in Him! All is in Christ; there is nothing out of Him; I myself, out of Him, am nothing. But oh, the blessed truth—He died to make me one with himself, and to make me die to every life but His.

Since He is living in me, He must be working there. And if He is working, I have nothing to do but yield myself to Him. Oh, how I love that word yield; may it be my meat and drink continually, as I make it my practical life.

He is within me; my soul knows it; and my soul can trust Him!
