Cross section scanning

Measuring cross sections of turned components has always been a difficult if not impossible task on a manual machine.

Not anymore!

Aberlink3D has an innovative solution to allow easy measurement of any cross sections on your components. Simply scan the section as a curve, and the software can then project the points via the centre circle.

This is referred to as a sectional projection allowing the measurements to then be taken as if the probe was perfectly on the centre line of the component.

Exhibitions

In our recent exhibition at Kalite Turkey, the Halo paired with Renishaw’s PH20 5-axis probe head was the center of attention.

The Manufacturing & Engineering North East (MENE) exhibition opens its doors next month on the 28th November.

Tony Smith of Northern Metrology will be on hand alongside our Technical Sales Manager David Ditchburn to showcase our revolutionary manual CMM, the Fulcrum, as well as the powerful Aberlink3D software suite.

What is your role?

My role at Aberlink is CNC programmer / setter / operator

How long have you worked at Aberlink?

This year marks my 9th year with Aberlink and my 53rd year in the manufacturing sector!

How did you get into the role?

After previously working for a large manufacturing company, I sought a change of scenery. The tight-knit team at Aberlink has been a perfect fit for me and has made working for a smaller company much more rewarding.

Favourite part about the job?

The variety of the work i get involved in and being able to bring my best friend Henry in with me! (Pictured below)

What are your hobbies outside of work?

When i’m not at work i enjoy going on long walks with my dog and clay pidgeon shooting.
