ABED KHOOLI
Abed can be found on Twitter/X (@akhooli) and LinkedIn (https://www.dhirubhai.net/in/akhooli/).
‘…a non-Facebook creature…a senior data-science, data-journalism, and open-data specialist and advocate.’ …He is just one of the many local and diaspora Palestinians heavily involved in the avant garde sector of the global Information Communication Technology community.
?I have for the third (3rd) time re-read from an “ancient” This Week in Palestine blog, dated “May, 2021”, entitled ‘Data Governance for Economic and Social Good’ (https://thisweekinpalestine.com/author/abed-khooli/), authored by Abed Khooli :
So, “right out of the gate”, I am “hit” by — ‘If knowledge is power, then data is a superpower. Data is the basis of the data-information-knowledge-wisdom (DIKW) pyramid. Adding context to raw data produces information that can be processed and distilled further into knowledge. Wisdom, on the other hand, comes from applying knowledge in action and can’t be codified – at least for the time being.’

Khooli further affirms that ‘[b]usiness and economic growth are not the only outcomes of data, but planning, decision-making, and overall resilience readiness are significant applications of data for the social good.’ …“Resilience”, that term once again, is the kind of stuff Palestinians of all walks of life are famous for — why, even "Bibi" Benjamin Netanyahu would begrudgingly have to admit to that. . . .
Oh! #AI – #ArtificialIntelligence IS POWERED BY DATA, according to Khooli. …You mean AI is not this will-o'-the-wisp,?hocus-pocus I read about by “erudite” personalities of the trade?
I conclude with a quote by an Ed Wolfe, dated ‘4 July 2022: ‘Aww, THAT’s the ticket’, in the words of Studs Terkel—"a free, prosperous Palestine where data and AI are core assets”! Brilliant post.’ Yes, ‘twas worth re-reading…WORTH IT MAYBE ESPECIALLY NOW — despite certainly in that part of the globe where things have been going drastically in the opposite direction since. . . .
