What do you do at WFP Somalia?

I work as a logistics assistant (funds management). The team oversees timely payment to service providers in warehouse management, transportation, port and retail services, among other areas.

?What led you to apply for a job in the humanitarian sector?

The desire to positively impact the lives of the most vulnerable in society and make the world a better place. The humanitarian sector was a good fit for me and provided an excellent opportunity to realize my dreams and ambition.?

?What excites you most about your role?

I work in a demanding and fast-paced environment. The scope of my role is multifaceted, working closely with both internal and external stakeholders. What keeps me motivated is the collaboration, teamwork, and commitment that exists within the team and between the different units. There is no doubt that we all work towards a common goal of saving and changing lives.?

?What skills have you gained during your time in WFP Somalia?

WFP Somalia supports staff development, since I joined in 2017, I have learned and sharped my skills in:

• Funds management, monitoring and reporting.
• Cash Based Transfers processes and delivery mechanisms.
• Managing third-party monitoring groups.
• Analytical, adaptability and interpersonal skills.

?What lessons have you learned so far in your role?

There is always something new to learn and taking short online courses can positively impact a person's life. In addition, collaboration, being proactive in solving problems, completing tasks, meeting deadlines and delivering results is key in the work environment.
