For years, I’ve been talking about the ABCs of emerging technology—AI, Blockchain, and Computing—and how they are redefining industries, unlocking new business models, and transforming economies. These aren’t just buzzwords; they are the foundation of the future.
Recently, I had the privilege of delivering a keynote and panel discussion at Ethereum Foundation ETHiopia, the inaugural event in #AddisAbaba. Watching the hackathon’s final demo day was an eye-opener—the #Web3 community moves differently. High energy, bold ideas, and real-world applications. The level of innovation was nothing short of inspiring.
A Government Built on Trust—Blockchain in Action
While preparing my presentation on trust-driven governance, I realized I’ve already had the opportunity to work with three pioneering companies that are solving some of Africa’s biggest challenges with blockchain:
? PayBox Global – As part of the ITC Tech Entrepreneurship Netherlands Trust Fund 5 program in Ghana, Paybox is bridging AI and blockchain to create stablecoin-powered cross-border payments, making international money transfers seamless. Their solution has the potential to empower 1000s of SMEs to new levels.
? BenBen – Years ago was early-stage startup from the BlueSPACE Innovation Hub accelerator at the Ghana Innovation Hub, tackling one of Africa’s biggest challenges—land rights—with a #blockchain-based land registry solution. I had the pleasure of running that program with Ammishaddai Ofori
? AfyaRekod – A Kenyan health-tech startup using blockchain to power electronic health records, ensuring secure, decentralized, and patient-controlled healthcare data. One of my mentees through Empact Group, Umuhany Zuhudi, was the general manager scaling their impact.
Without realizing it, I’ve been mentoring Web3 companies across finance, real estate, and healthcare—helping them navigate strategy, scaling, and investment readiness. So what’s next?
A Web3 accelerator program? A new wave of African blockchain startups? One thing is certain—the momentum is here, the ecosystem is growing, and the next generation of innovators is rising.
?? Could that be you?
Let’s connect, build, and drive the future of emerging tech together.

6 天前Mearaf Tadewos and team Congrats on a great event. Bringing Ethereum and the bootcamp to Addis was really great. It felt more like the #AU of Blockchain than an Ethiopian event. People from all over the continent were there. Truly impressive.
