"ABC – Always Be Connecting!"

I am a connector. 

I always have been.  

Until recently, I didn’t know that there was actually a personality profile that had these traits and now that I’ve found it, I want to meet other connectors like myself as I believe we can do something really cool in this world. 

So tell me this, do you know someone that seems to know everyone? 

When someone says to me directly or in passing that he or she is looking for something, immediately the Rolodex in my head starts spinning.

So who are these connectors?

They are people that are always willing to help and don’t expect anything in return. They like to solve problems and see solutions in chaos. They believe that 1+1=3. The common thread among these connectors is to have traits such as great energy, insatiable curiosity and a willingness to take chances. 

Sound familiar?

Now that I've been thinking more about this I know I’ve met other people that have these traits in my lifetime and I know that they are out there doing good in the world without the expectation that they need to do it. They do it because it is great to give back. 

What do I want to do?

Almost like the game “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” where you can input a celebrity and see how many degrees of connection he or she is to Kevin Bacon. We have the opportunity to do this with our networks and to help people. This was based off Six degrees of separation which is the idea that all living things and everything else in the world are six or fewer steps away from each other so that a chain of "a friend of a friend" statements can be made to connect any two people in a maximum of six steps.

I have created a group for connectors. The concept in the works is that we get together either in person or virtually once a month and each person brings a “connection” to the table. Our goal – to connect them to wherever they need to go. 

Publicly I’ve done it twice now with two people who were on the hunt for jobs with great success and privately, I've lost count. It isn't just about finding jobs, it can be a multitude of different scenarios.  

What I don't want

But here’s the thing. This is not a group if you have the "what's in it for me" mentality. It’s draining and the energy flow does not work. It is about helping others. First and foremost.
