Opening Thought
127.3 million viewers. That’s how many people watched the Super Bowl this past weekend, making it the most watched program in TV history. To be honest, I didn’t watch it until the very end. That is mostly because of the way our schedule went on Sunday with three young kids. But here’s what I know for sure on this side of it— the Super Bowl is as relevant to our culture as ever, whether you like football or not. My favorite commercial? Beyoncé’s Verizon ad.

Deep Dive - Abbott Elementary
Perhaps you haven’t had the time to start this show. Perhaps you haven’t heard of it yet even though it’s won several Emmys. Or perhaps you’re just not a TV person and this type of pop culture just isn’t a priority.
I’m going to convince you today to give this show a try.
Abbott Elementary just started its third season. You can view it weekly on ABC and Hulu, as well watch the first two seasons on Hulu.
It’s a mockumentary sitcom that follows a handful of teachers at Abbott Elementary, an elementary school in Philadelphia. Every episode deftly blends humor and heart, never taking itself too seriously but also moving you in profound ways.
Here’s the series description from Rotten Tomatoes, where it has a 99% tomatometer score:
“A group of dedicated, passionate teachers -- and a slightly tone-deaf principal -- find themselves thrown together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these incredible public servants may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do -- even if they don't love the school district's less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children.”
Like all great content, you just have to experience it for yourself.
