ABA Journal Wins 13 Regional Gold Azbee Awards
Please join me in congratulating my colleagues at the ABA Journal and ABA Creative Group for taking home the most regional gold Azbee Awards in the Journal's long history.
The Journal won 13 Regional Gold Awards for several editorial pieces online and in print, as well as for design, illustration and photography. Each Gold Award automatically advances to the Azbee National Awards, which are held later this summer.
For editorial, some of the winning categories include Best Enterprise News Story, Best Government Coverage, Best Investigative Reporting, Best Regularly Contributed Column (for Phil Meyer's Storytelling series), Best Data Journalism, Best Microsite for Legal Rebels and Best Technical Reporting, among others.
In the design category, we also won several Gold Awards, including yours truly for my mixtape photo illustration in Best Front Cover Special Issue, as well as Tahiti Spears for Best Opening Page/Spread Typographic, Amanda Fry for Best Contents Page, Sara Wadford (and photographer Wayne Slezak) for Best Photography in an Opening Spread. Most importantly, Nick Panos and the entire ABA Creative Group won gold for Best Magazine Redesign.
Additionally, the Journal team and the Creative Group also won three Silver Awards and one Bronze, two of which were won by me and one by my talented colleague, Elmarie Jara. Congratulations to both award-winning teams! It's great to see all our hard work pay off.
