Aarogya Setu Innovation Ideas

Aarogya Setu Innovation Ideas

Continuing from my post of yesterday (click here), doing an article simply because I exceeded the word limit ??

In keeping with my proclivity towards keeping things practical, wanted to pick something for the #innovationchallenge (as part of my #workshop) which was topical, relevant and engaging

After a lot of thoughts, options, finally settled on #AarogyaSetu, the contact tracing app developed by the Govt of India, to help keep the country safe during the pandemic / #lockdown

The challenge posed was

  1. What would you do to make the app more effective ?
  2. How could you make more people download the app ?

Happy to report that the #PGPX batch, #IIMA, working in groups, didn't let the virtual setting hinder them, and were abuzz with ideas (one group even came up with a slogan !)

Since it's in public interest, am listing some of the top ideas (in no particular order). Please feel free to share, spread

1. Link to Jan Dhan / Aadhar

2. A 'create a video ad' challenge, with the ad objective being to get people to download, inviting entries from the public

3. Telecast all Modi's speeches / Ramayan / Mahabharat etc on the app

4. Integrate with Google Maps, so people can navigate real time with zones / barriers / regulations info available

5. Make e-pass application via the app

6. Independent cyber security validation, maybe even from an international agency

7. Make it a hyper local app - allowing people to connect / unite for causes (mental health / stray dogs etc) via the app

8. Migrant labourers (probably the ones most at risk / vulnerable / in need of the app), via the app, should be able to see nearest shelters / transport / NGOs for help

9. Classify people as red / yellow / green, with different levels of freedom allowed to each (apparently being done in China)

10. Integrate local services (booking a dinner, movie etc) via the app + perhaps even offer an LPG subsidy if booked via the app

To keep things interesting, my son, Anvam Nagpal, (doing Product Design at Ravensbourne University, London) and I also came up with a couple of ideas

  1. Tie up with local vendors, stores etc so that people come to know home delivery options
  2. Polling : A lot of the measures imposed by the local politicians, administrators, bureaucrats, aren't thought through + they don’t have enough feedback. Enable a polling option in the app, so that prior to imposing any measures, they can check with the local user base re their thoughts

Do let me know your thoughts, and share / spread if you like any of the ideas

Many thanks to the students for a great session ??????

Hi Apruv, I have been following work done by Germany on the Corona Warn App( Germany's version of Arogya Setu app ). It's commendable as to how they have made their entire app architecture and source code public. Do you think this may help in improving the effectiveness of the app, plus provide an opportunity to crowdsource features for the greater good? https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/covid-19-how-technical-foundation-corona-warn-app-germany-mueller/
