Aarhus University Hospital Joins the Prestigious European University Hospital Alliance

Aarhus University Hospital has been appointed to the prestigious European University Hospital Alliance (EUHA) as its newest member. With this, the hospital joins a network of Europe's leading university hospitals – and cements its status as one of the world’s most elite healthcare institutions.?

EUHA was established in 2017 as a way to build expertise and accelerate innovation at Europe’s top university hospitals. Its member hospitals are proven leaders in medical treatment, education and research. They aim to advance clinical solutions and solve the challenges facing healthcare systems worldwide though collaboration and by sharing inspiration and knowledge.

Aarhus University Hospital joins a cohort of these leading European university hospitals, which have a track record of strong performance across highly specialised care, research, and the education of healthcare professionals:

? Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset (Sweden)

? Charité - Universit?tsmedizin Berlin (Germany)

? Vall d'Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus (Spain)

? UZ Leuven (Belgium)

? King's Health Partners (UK)

? Ospedale San Raffaele (Italy)

? AP-HP, Assistance Publique - H?pitaux de Paris (France)

? Erasmus MC (Netherlands)

? Medizinische Universit?t Wien (Austria)

? Universit?tsspital Zürich (Switzerland)

This is the first time EUHA has invited a new member, which is a testament to the professionalism, expertise and care provided by Aarhus University Hospital. The collaboration opportunities afforded by the alliance will further the hospital’s ability to develop, evaluate and implement new treatments to improve the quality of care for patients.?

On the benefits of the alliance, Poul Blaabjerg, CEO of Aarhus University Hospital, says, “Each of the hospitals has is own strengths. Therefore, all of the EUHA members can support one another in different ways by providing mutual inspiration and collaboration on joint projects to further the development of treatment services. Like Aarhus University Hospital, they face challenges with staffing, recruitment and retention – and they’re helping each other find solutions.”

One of the key purposes of EUHA is to promote excellence and innovation in treatment, research, and education for better health outcomes while giving staff the opportunity to exchange knowledge and collaborate on research and development projects. The alliance enables its members to share best practices, exchange professionals, and collaborate on concrete projects, learning from one another and leveraging their joint capabilities to shape an effective, successful and sustainable European healthcare system for years to come.

Of the alliance, Diana Riknagel, Chief of Innovation and International Affairs at Aarhus University Hospital, says, “This is fantastic opportunity for Aarhus University Hospital to lead by doing. As part of EUHA, we’ll be in the vanguard of the innovation that will improve patient outcomes while helping to secure the future sustainability of the European healthcare system.”?
