Archer Unveils Planned LA Air Taxi Network?

Archer has revealed plans to launch a Los Angeles air mobility network by 2026.

Archer’s planned network includes vertiports at key locations such as Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Orange County, Santa Monica, Hollywood Burbank, Long Beach and Van Nuys.

Adam Goldstein , CEO of Archer, said; “This is a big moment for Archer. Establishing our LA network ahead of the global events that are coming to the region over the next four years is a milestone that will put Midnight on display for the whole world to see.

“LA is known for its horrendous traffic—our goal is to offer a safer, faster and sustainable alternative travel option.”

eSTOL Piloted Electric Aircraft Flies at NASA Langley

Electra.aero successfully demonstrated the flight capabilities of its EL-2 Goldfinch hybrid eSTOL technology demonstrator aircraft at NASA’s historic Langley Research Center.

The achievement from Electra, a next-gen aerospace company committed to decarbonizing aviation and opening new air transportation markets, reportedly marks the first flight of an electric aircraft with a pilot onboard at NASA Langley.

Crewed eVTOL Test Flights Conducted at Paris Vertiport

Volocopter has completed a crewed test flight at the Aerodrome of Saint-Cyr-l’école, the first bespoke commercial vertiport for eVTOL integrated within the company’s approved flights routes in Paris.?

The crewed Volocopter aircraft took flight from the inaugurated vertiport of the Aerodrome of Saint-Cyr-l’Ecole, built by Groupe ADP , the company’s longstanding Parisian partner. With this flight, the partners begin their operational validation phase, a pre-commercial test series to mature the eVTOL ecosystem in France.

Skyportz?Secures Orders for Vertipad Units Following Farnborough Airshow

Following the release of Skyportz? ’s?vertipad patent at the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow,?the company?has reported three orders totalling in excess of 1000 units to support the emerging air taxi industry.

The patented modular vertipad solution addresses a multitude of issues including passenger safety, downwash, outwash, battery fires, power generation, power storage, debris capture, noise, environmental impacts, insurance risks, and more – all in an affordable package that can be placed on airport tarmacs or on new vertiport sites.

CEO Clem Newton-Brown OAM , said; “The patented design has not been released publicly as we are still tweaking our prototype.

“However, we have been happy to share the design with industry colleagues under Non-Disclosure Agreement and the response has been incredible. You can actually see the light bulbs going on as people realise we have cracked the nut of mass production of a vertipad product that is a vast improvement on a circle painted on a slab of concrete.”
