Welcome to the Air Accidents Investigation Branch Bulletin, a monthly compilation of AAIB field, correspondence and record only investigations. ?

The December Bulletin includes final reports from two field investigations, three correspondence investigations and 23 record-only investigations. They contain safety recommendations and detail safety action that has been taken as a result of our investigations to improve aviation safety. ?Information on the types of reporting by the AAIB can be found on our website.

G-TAWD: Aircraft final position

AAIB Report: G-TAWD

A field investigation into a serious incident involving a Boeing 737-8K5 (G-TAWD) which had a lateral runway excursion, Leeds Bradford Airport on 20 October 2023.


A correspondence investigation has been published into an accident where the rear passenger door detached from a Diamond DA 40 NG (G-LDGB), 3 nm north-west of Oxford Airport, 16 May 2023.

AAIB Report: G-CKYT

A field investigation into a fatal accident involving a Rotorsport UK Cavalon (G-CKYT) on farmland between Avoch and Munlochy, Black Isle on 12 November 2020.


A correspondence investigation has been published into a LBL 90A (G-JEMI) which had a heavy landing, Forncett End, Norfolk, 10 August 2024.


General Aviation

G-BZKO: Broken windscreen and torn fuselage coating

A correspondence investigation has been published into an accident involving a Rans S6-ES (G-BZKO), where the windscreen and skylight assemblies shattered in-flight, near Newtownards Airport, County Down, 26 February 2024
