ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Renda Writer is a man who believes in following his passions. Born in New York and raised in Coral Springs/SoFla, he draws influence from all of his life experiences and continues to soak up all that life has to offer every new day. Whether it’s with art, poetry, or business, Renda is always working on a new project and always acutely tuned in for manifesting the outcomes and results that he desires. With an intimate understanding of The Law of Attraction, Renda enjoys every new day of navigating through the universe as a creator and as a grateful being. He enjoys collaborating with other motivated individuals, both through art and poetry collaborations and through business partnerships.

ARTIST BIO

As an artist, Renda Writer stands firmly behind the central idea expressed in his artist statement, where he says, “My goal as an artist is to make my handwriting into visual art and to shed light on the general idea that handwriting can be seen as art, reminding viewers that the art is in what the words say, how they look, and how they’re written.” As a visual artist, Renda first started creating in 2010, after several years as a poet. He started by creating the “Handwritten” brand, which eventually blossomed into a virtual empire of “Handwritten” products. With his art, Renda likes to emphasize and gravitate toward concepts and themes of brevity, nature, inspiration, the struggle, the hustle, affirmations, and the concept of “She” as a pronoun that will never get old.

HANDWRITTEN MURALS

A “Handwritten Mural” draws on influences and inspiration from street art, graffiti, typography, public art, poetry, mantras, and pop-art-like repetition.

Of all the things that Renda does, this is currently his central focus, as it provides the most potential for travel and for growth, and for making an impact on a large scale with his art. He sees the “Handwritten Mural” projects as the best way to bring attention to all of his work on the whole and therefore is focusing intently on these murals as his main distinguishing characteristic as an artist. In order to direct more attention and energy toward the “Handwritten Mural” projects Renda Writer has created www.HandwrittenMurals.com and encourages potential mural clients to visit there for more information.

His experience in creating the “Handwritten Mural” genre began in October of 2014, when he started work on a project at N’Namdi Contemporary art, in the heart of the internationally popular Wynwood Arts District of Miami. He set out on the task of using only simple white paint marker to write a simple 2-sentence mantra over and over on the 30ft x 30ft exterior blue wall of the famed art gallery.

That mantra is “Love is a risk. Do it anyway.” and it was written approximately 500,000 times across the entire expanse of the wall, taking about 350 labor hours, over the course of 6 weeks. The mural was completed on December 3rd, 2014, just in time for Art Basel, which positioned Renda appropriately in front of throngs of international art fans and made him into one of the most widely talked about mural artists in Wynwood during the week of Art Basel, known as Miami Art Week. The talk on the streets was mirrored by an explosion of attention on social media too, as Renda’s mural was photographed, uploaded, tagged, and shared extensively on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, creating a viral phenomenon around the mural whose effects are still rippling outward today, as fans continue snapping pics of themselves in front of the mural and spreading them across the internet. Renda is now one of the most widely talked about artists in Wynwood, and in the greater Miami area.

Immediately following the completion of this mural, Renda seized the moment and capitalized on the swelling of art appreciation around Miami Beach for Art Basel by spending three consecutive nights completing his 2nd “Handwritten Mural” at The Whitelaw Hotel in Miami Beach. This mural covered the four columns on the hotel’s Collins Avenue front terrace as well as the walls of the first floor hallway.

Renda’s first two “Handwritten Mural Projects” were photo-documented by www.PhotographyByPaloma.com, a Miami-based photographer with an eye for the arts and a reputation for compelling images.

From there, Renda has gone on to complete over 100 Handwritten Murals, and has also started The World Peace Mural Tour.

WORLD PEACE MURAL TOUR

The World Peace Mural Tour is an "endless tour," Renda Writer's life's purpose. It started with the first mural, on April 23rd, 2016 at Georgia-Jones Ayers Middle School in the Allapattah neighborhood of Miami.

"I will do the World Peace Mural Tour for the rest of my life." Renda says.

The tour was inspired by the song, "World Peace" by KRS-One, and was motivated by the Gandhi quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

The tour is aligned with the idea of "writing things into existence," and presents a way of using the power of words and the medium of public art to spark conversations and effect change.

The tour is powered by gratitude. Being grateful is what keeps Renda going, which is why he has a "gratitude" section on the tour's official website:
