Aadhar Bill passed in Lok Sabha

Passing Aadhar Bill and providing a legal status to Unique Identity Number or Aadhar is certainly appreciable step. In principle, UIN should have been legally protected at same time when the project was initiated. Probably this way it would have built a brand among the masses.

Since it was not done timely, so it has not only invited judicial system to intervene but it has faced delays to go forward. During the last Govt they have tried hard to push the bill further but due to the discordance among their own leaders, it could not be escalated to the concerned authorities or levels, otherwise it would have been passed in 2010-2011.

But now, after a discussions on various levels, comprehensive brain storming and many necessary rectifications, since it is passed and justified so there will be no point about any opposition. During the session, opposition has shown resistance against the Aadhar bill, which in my opinion is nothing but a moral duty towards their seats against the govt. probably due to this protest Govt has passed this as money bill.

Following can be seen as direct benefits of Aadhar Bill:

• No details of the UIN will be shared without permission of concerned person, and moreover no biometric will be shared even though the concerned person allows for it.
• No one ignore this fact that after Aadhar interventions, it has reduced misuse of the subsidies. Especially in case of petroleum gas subsidy, govt could save INR 15000 core.

Having said that, I don’t see any harm in the bill, when almost every adult has Aadhar and everyday near about 5 lakh people are connecting through (availing Aadhar No.) this network. In fact such kinds of schemes should be promoted so that UIN must be provided to the every Indian Citizen only, as a preventive measures against terrorism and other threats against internal security. It is very much required that no such person should use UIN, where there is a doubt against his/her citizenship.
