AADECOM'S ACTIONS

I. GENERAL OVERVIEW OF AADECOM

AADECOM is an apolitical, secular and non-profit non-governmental organization under Malian law that works for the development of Malian communities affected or victims of crises, conflicts or disasters through humanitarian and community development activities based on the three axes priority: - community development (Health / Nutrition, Food Security, WASH, etc.); -building of community capacities (community leaders, women's and youth groups); - humanitarian assistance (food security and nutrition, water-hygiene-sanitation and education); -promotion of human rights (child protection, GBV, psychosocial support).

GOAL:

AADECOM's goal is to promote the rights and economic and socio-cultural development activities initiated by grassroots populations with a view to reducing poverty.

OBJECTIVES:              

AADECOM has multiple objectives which are:

v Look for ways to meet the real needs of communities in all areas;

v Identify and develop projects with the effective participation of the populations concerned;

v Seek funding from donors and technical and financial partners for the realization of micro-projects, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and this for the marketing of various consumer products and expertise;

v Assisting in priority the most disadvantaged sectors and the most deprived social layers;

v Foster the spirit of creativity and entrepreneurship;

v Create and strengthen the civic spirit, understanding and mutual aid of the populations;

v Protect the environment against bush fires, deforestation, desertification, insalubrity and pollution in all its forms;

v Help promote moral and civic education for all residents, Fight against diseases and all forms of epidemics;

v Encourage research in all fields and sectors of activity;

v Promote the education of young girls and the literacy of out-of-school and illiterate adults;

v Stimulate and encourage local initiatives; Inform and sensitize the population of all decisions concerning them;

v Denounce any behavior that may be harmful to the interests of the population.

II. INTERVENTION ZONE

AADECOM can intervene throughout the national territory of Mali whose current target localities are in the following regions: Kayes, Koulikoro, Sikasso, Ségou, Tombouctou, Gao, Kidal.

III. ACTIVITIES DONE

q Training of 25 father-educators including 10 women and 15 men on the basic concepts of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in 2015

q Capacity building for 30 people in setting up and monitoring and evaluation of community development in 2015

q Training of 35 people in humanitarian action using the SPHERE approach in 2017

q Capacity building of 60 agents of National NGOs in Mali on the International Humanitarian System in 2019

q Humanitarian assistance in NFI to displaced people from the Center at Garbal de Faladié in Bamako in 2018

q Humanitarian assistance to displaced people from Chassawane in the municipality of Léré, Cercle de Niafunké, Tombouctou region in 2018

q Capacity building for 35 young people from the Soboundou Commune, Niafunké Circle, Timbuktu Region in job search techniques in 2019

q Strengthening the skills of 40 young people from Bamako in job search techniques in 2020.

IV. METHOD OF INTERVENTION

q Needs assessment through exchanges with the authorities (political, customary and religious), needs assessment through members of Humanitarian Watch Committees, compilation of information from people through AADECOM focal points and technical services of the State of the area concerned, collecting social funds from public and private donors, companies and businesses.

q Provision of assistance according to the needs of those affected and in need in the presence of representatives of authorities and Complaints Committees (PCs) who have the right to rule on how to provide assistance.

V. WORKING PRINCIPLES

Coordination, collaboration, evaluation, provision of assistance, information sharing and accountability.

? Coordination: coordinate the entire process according to the type of assistance requested.

? Collaboration: collaborate with the authorities, technical services, NGOs, community leaders and various groups of women and young people. This collaboration is based on the principle of acceptance and involvement of local populations who are in need to take part in all stages of the process of providing assistance.

? The assessment: assess the needs, what has been done and what remains to be done. This activity involves humanitarian watch committees which are called crisis committees while soliciting the participation of all people of good will.

*The provision of assistance: this is an activity that can be done according to the type of assistance requested and according to the available donations. This activity is also done in the presence of the complaints committees to assess the way in which assistance has been given to those affected or who are in need.

*Information sharing and accountability: as needed, all necessary information will be given to all those who need it while keeping confidentiality for some compromising data.

AADECOM is accountable to the donors and to the competent authorities of Mali, that is to say it reports on its activity to the donors according to their requests according to the resources mobilized and the activities undertaken.

CONCLUSION

AADECOM remains a national humanitarian actor in Mali despite the various problems it faces in intervening on the ground. The challenges remain enormous but can be overcome by the will of donors, affected people and all authorities as well as technical services.
