A320 Runway Excursion in Vilnius

An Airbus A320-200, registered LY-NVL, veered off the runway into soft ground during its landing on runway 19 at Vilnius Airport, Lithuania, on February 3, 2024, around 14:19 local time (12:19Z), after arriving from Milan Bergamo, Italy. The aircraft managed to return to the runway centerline and taxied to the apron; it remained on the ground in Vilnius six hours post-incident. FAA Advisory on GNSS Spoofing Risks

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a Safety Alert for Operators, highlighting a significant increase in global navigation satellite system (GNSS) spoofing incidents, which present severe navigation challenges for aviation. Pilots are advised to revert to traditional navigational aids and report any GPS/GNSS discrepancies to air traffic control, amidst a surge in spoofing attacks that could compromise critical flight systems, including automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) and electronic flight bags (EFBs). The FAA's guidance encourages flight crews to prepare for potential navigation disruptions by researching alternative conventional arrival/approach procedures and ensuring adequate fuel reserves for deviations, especially when operating in or near areas known for interference or conflict zones. Delta A333 Engine Failure in Barcelona

A Delta Airlines Airbus A330-300, registered as N803NW, experienced an engine failure shortly after takeoff from Barcelona, Spain, on February 1, 2024, during flight DL-195 bound for Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The crew halted the climb at FL270 and returned to Barcelona for a safe landing approximately one hour later; the aircraft is awaiting an engine replacement 61 hours post-incident.
