1. What is your responsibilities as Flight Data Analysis Manager?
The Flight Data Analysis Programme (FDAP) in Batik Air is overseen by the FDA Manager, who bears the responsibility of managing its daily operations. The Manager's key tasks include monitoring the system for deviations from normal flight profiles, generating detailed reports on significant events, and conducting in-depth analysis of flight safety trends. This crucial role ensures that Batik Air is well-equipped to maintain the highest levels of safety and operational efficiency in the aviation industry.
2. What is your educational background?
My Diploma in Business Management has provided me with a solid educational background, which has been instrumental in establishing a strong foundation for me. This foundation has enabled me to cultivate a high level of professional discipline, empowering me to continually develop new skills to tackle fresh challenges and assume greater responsibilities. As a result, I am better equipped to make a valuable contribution to the aviation industry and further my career in this dynamic and exciting field.
3. What kind of knowledge and skills required for this position?
As a Flight Data Analyst, possessing a solid grasp of statistical knowledge is imperative for collecting accurate data, conducting appropriate analysis, and presenting the results effectively. Additionally, a relevant aviation safety education program is highly desirable, as it would provide training on the FDAP system, familiarize the analyst with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of the monitored fleet, and offer valuable insights on safety risk management, root cause analysis, and case studies. This combination of skills and knowledge will enable the analyst to excel in their role and contribute to the safety and efficiency of the aviation industry.
4. What was your position prior to being appointed as Flight Data Analysis Manager?
As an accomplished aviation professional, my extensive industry experience includes serving in various roles such as Crewing Officer for Operations Dispatch Control and Auditor for Flight Operations Department, before assuming my current position. These diverse positions have equipped me with invaluable knowledge and skills, providing ample opportunities for personal and professional development. 5. What do you love most about your job?
The aviation industry is ever-evolving, and I am fortunate to have a career that enables me to continuously learn and grow. I find great satisfaction in the fact that each event and flight analysis presents new scenarios and opportunities for me to expand my knowledge base. This dynamic nature of my work ensures that I am never bored and constantly engaged in the pursuit of new insights and experiences.
6. The most challenging part of your job?
In my line of work, one of the most demanding aspects is being dependent on other teams or departments to maintain a high level of efficiency. The timely upload, analysis, and closure of flight reports are crucial for the overall success of our operations, and these tasks are reliant on the prompt and reliable performance of other teams. Any delays or substandard work can have a profound impact on our team's ability to meet deadlines and accomplish essential tasks. As a result, we must remain vigilant and actively collaborate with other teams to ensure that we consistently deliver quality work within our target timelines.
7. How do you balance your Life and Work?
As an aviation professional, maintaining a healthy work-life balance is of utmost importance to me. To achieve this balance, I rely on effective time management techniques that prioritize productivity over busyness. I start my day by creating a comprehensive list of tasks, ranking them in order of importance, and focusing my efforts on completing the critical tasks first. Furthermore, I have come to appreciate the power of saying "no" and avoiding overcommitment, which can detract from my productivity. Taking care of my mind and body is also essential, and I reserve weekends for personal pursuits such as spending quality time with family and friends, indulging in outdoor activities, exploring new foods, and working out to maintain my physical and mental well-being.
8. And lastly, what will be your advice or words of wisdom to all Malaysian young women who wish to join this industry?
Passion is a great equalizer that transcends gender biases in the aviation industry. Whether you are a man or a woman, finding something that ignites your passion can drive you to great heights. Believing that gender is a limiting factor is a fallacy that must be rejected. As an aviation professional, it is crucial to have confidence in your abilities and to trust your instincts. Staying true to your beliefs and remaining committed to your goals is vital in overcoming any obstacles and achieving success in your career.
