94/62/EC--Packaging and Packaging Waste

When we are communicating with our EU clients about our portable led lights, they have requested us to provide the related certificate profiles for the packing materials.

The packing boxes materials need to be approved by the 94/62/EC, the packing and packing waste regulation in the European market

Full name of the Directive: Directive 94/62/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 December 1994 on packaging and packaging waste

Definition: according to Article 3 of the Eu Packaging Materials Directive (94/62/EC), "packaging" means all consumable resources used for the containment, protection, handling, transportation, and presentation of goods, from raw materials to manufacturing processes, from producer to consumer.

Objective: The main reason for the management/control of packaging materials is that packaging materials are often discarded by consumers after use, and then into the environmental soil, which contains hazardous substances that will directly cause harm to the environment.

Maximum concentration limit: The maximum concentration limit of the four heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium, and hexavalent chromium) in the European Packaging Materials Directive (94/62/EC): Lead (Pb) + cadmium (Cd) + Mercury (Hg) + hexavalent Chromium (Cr+6) is not more than the 100ppm

The test objects include product packaging cartons, cartons, wooden frames, tape boxes, plastic bags, bubble bags, foam, Poly long, fixed appliances, thin plates, ropes, paint, ink, tape, glue, ribbon, labels, instructions.

The Packaging Waste Directive requires heavy metals not to exceed 100 PPM of total lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and mercury in all packaging and packaging components as of 30 June 2001; The package assembly is the smallest part of the package that can be easily separated by hand.?Compliance with instructions is demonstrated by testing or based on results calculated from heavy metal testing in packaging materials.

With more and more online shopping, more packaging materials are being used, so more attention should be paid to this problem. While reducing the use of packaging materials, we should also pay attention to the safety and reusable packaging materials themselves.

In addition, the surge in contactless delivery, including online shopping and takeout food delivery due to the pandemic, has also led to the heavy use of packaging materials.

It is hoped that more environmentally friendly and recyclable packaging materials will be used to reduce environmental pollution and resource consumption.
