9/11/2001 - NeverForget

2001 began unlike most years. One short year after 'Y2K' and the new year of 1999-2000. In January 2001, I landed in the United Kingdom for my undergraduate study abroad program while the Florida election recount of Bush vs. Gore continued.

My flatmates had a hard time understanding who our President was from more than two months after the election occurred in November 2000, as did I.

While reflecting on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and the terrorist attacks on American soil, my thoughts are with those who lost their lives and their families while we will #NeverForget

I was a senior at Iowa State University walking down Welch Avenue to my first economics class for the day when the attack on the World Trade Center Towers began.

Three months earlier I returned to America and flew from London - Chicago returning from my completed Iowa Regents study abroad program in Swansea, Wales UK.

Never forget.
