91% of buildings have no monitoring and control of energy consumption
As the COP27 climate summit gets underway in Egypt, it is clear that not enough progress is being made. Our leaders are not admitting the clear and present danger being observed around the world through wildfires, floods, extinction of animals and their habitats and melting icecaps. We need to work together to address how we solve these issues, despite our leaders.
For Novacene, which specialises in building performance to decarbonise and save money on energy costs, the focus is on the 91% of buildings that have no monitoring and control of how they consume energy. Schools and children are at the heart of the solution.
A recent UNICEF report found that:
"if action is not taken now to make our schools more sustainable, we could be looking at a future where an entire generation of children will have been educated in institutions with compromised learning environments".
This is why Novacene is committed to working with schools to help them become more sustainable and energy-efficient.
There are many things that individuals can do to help address climate change. One of the most important is to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. We can do this by making simple changes like using public transport or cycling instead of driving, or by installing solar panels or wind turbines. Another important way to reduce our carbon footprint is to switch off buildings when not in use.
The COP27 summit offers a chance for our leaders to come up with a global plan to address climate change. But it's also up to us, as individuals, to take responsibility for our own actions and do what we can to reduce our impact on the environment.
We need to work together to make a difference, despite how our leaders procrastinate!
