90's GRUNGE is back!
Dress like its 1994. Bring on the purple lipstick and work a bit of teen spirit into the day. A major trend for autumn winter 2016 is sexy grunge. A decline in bright colours, a bit of burgundy, maroon, forest green and vamp, rebellious black. Channel punk with bold 'eye do what I want' make up, more is more, and messy doesn't matter. Team this, with just got out of bed tresses, a bit of attitude and (cherry red, optional) Dr Martens.
Bias-cut baby dolls dresses and bed wear worn as outerwear is walking its way down the runway, this very moment. The rebellious diva of 90's grunge, Courtney Love, has designed an 18 piece exclusive range of baby doll dresses, for Nasty Gal. Twenty five years after rocking the grunge look in her on-stage ensembles as the front woman of her band Hole, the look is very much of the here and now. Not the timid type, she once said, ''I'm not a woman. I'm a force of nature.''
This fiesty mood is much of what grunge is all about. At Milan Fashion Week, make up was dark, broody. Miss Femme fatale doesn't mind if her oversized black hoody doesn't match her lace dress, as seen on the Koche runway. Wave bye bye to the good girl who dots her 'I's and crosses her T's, the grunge girls are busy tying T's around their waist.
The beauty of the versatile slip dress is being able to be dress it up or down. Mix it up a bit and get on board the nostalgia express to work the look into your wardrobe. It would be ooh la la oh so Miss Vanessa Paradis worn with an over sized fur coat, and molto Miss Moss teamed with strappy heels and a biker jacket.
