9 years and counting
This month marks my 9th anniversary at Sky and with more than 9 roles under my belt, it’s a great time to reflect on what’s kept me hooked all these years.
Sparkle dust: there’s an unexplainable buzz which comes from working for an entertainment company; we love to entertain our customers and this translates to our workplace too. From watching AJ press conferences in the middle of the office to getting a stocking at Christmas and catching up on Pretty Little Liars in our on-site cinema. There’s a fantastic energy around the place which you can’t quite put your finger on.
Brilliant work: I’ve always had the opportunity to do interesting, varied and challenging work. Nothing’s given to you on a plate, but if you show interest, are keen to learn and get stuck in – there’s nothing you can’t do. You’re encouraged to own your career, which is really empowering. And you have a smart, caring bunch of people around you; all so willing to help where needed.
A desire to never settle: We never accept ‘good enough’. Believe in better really does run through everything we do and that keeps you on your toes. Thinking about new ways of doing things to make something better is not only encouraged but expected. It creates a unifying hunger to improve and ultimately, better outcomes for all – as well as a great sense of pride when you step back and see what you’ve achieved.
Our people: Last, but by no means least. This was the initial hook when I came for my graduate assessment centre all those years ago and is an important part of why I’m still here. At Sky you’re lucky enough to work with smart, talented and passionate people – who genuinely care about what they do. From colleagues who have become friends, to managers who have supported and challenged me, through to stakeholders who have helped shape an idea; there’s something really special about the people who work here.
From designing digital journeys, leading change programmes and partnering with the business; through to creating comms strategies, developing teams and most recently building our employer brand – I’ve had a blast. So, as I hang up my hat leading on attracting talent to Sky and move onto my next challenge, I’m excited for the chapters ahead – and grateful for the experiences I’ve had so far.
