Don’t you too believe that the post-COVID era has increased the importance of fitness? The general awareness of the public, concerning fitness and its benefits has suddenly spiked. While the necessity of a fit lifestyle is accepted by people, there still exists a lacuna in the regime of knowing HOW-TOs.
?
The internet is full-till-brim with information.
However, not every style of workout or every workout routine out there (in the vast ocean of endless internet surfing) is the most effective and optimised workout for YOU.
?
There is no one-size-fits-all.
?
For an informed individual, the gym or the home is all alike. The idea of improvement depends on the perspective or the focal point of the fitness programme.
?
However, one huge disparity persists, the Gym’s subscription charge (no fooling there), with additional costs for sauna, steam bath facility, locker room facility, massages, outdoor activities, personal training charges, etc.
?
This can aggregate to a significant amount in toto.
?
But, the amazing thing (yet not surprising) about this is, that it can be avoided, or the money be spent wisely.
?
You may be interested in Cardio Health, Fat Loss, Muscle building/ Hypertrophy, Stamina Enhancement, Running Endurance/ Lactate Threshold Onset Delay, Strength Improvement, etc. The approach towards the exercise would differ based on the target and the TAFT?- Time Available for a Task (I came up with that, LOL).
?
It is possible to achieve similar results in the gym and at home.
?
So, it is only the psychological factor that sits at the cockpit when you are deliberating between a subscription to a gym, or willing to perform bodyweight exercises at home, or assembling a small cute makeshift gym at home (click to read one more insightful article).

Things to consider when choosing your arena,
?
1.?? Target or THE GOAL
2.?? Available Time – Regular working hours/ Irregular and off working hours
3.?? Knowledge of scheduling a workout routine/ plan
4.?? Motivation to exercise in solitude vs. excitement in a crowd.
5.?? Money Available.

6.?? Interest in learning Calisthenic skills vs. Aesthetic muscular development
7.?? Body Type
8.?? Medical Condition
9.?? Availability of a Gym in nearby locality.
?
Let us dive deep into each topic to help you save some money.
?
1.??? Target/ Goal – Know what you want. You will not go to the ocean to improve your running endurance. Though exaggerated, this delivers the intended message. It is unwise to spend eternity at the gym when you want to improve your running or swimming endurance. Fat Loss/ Sport specific training/ Cardio Conditioning, etc. can be better achieved in the open field.
?
2.??? Available Time – This is indicative of the time available daily. This is not to be confused with the overall time chosen for goal/ target realisation. If you are a working individual with busy/ inflexible hours of work, long distances, and frequently tiring journeys after work to your home, it may be prudent to consider training at home. Where you can better manage your time. It is going to be tough, but you will be in control of your workout routine. Even if you miss it, you can substitute it with a different type of workout (provided you know a ‘someone like me’ to help you or the “freeway ”).
?
3.??? Knowledge of Scheduling – If you are aware of the anatomy of your body, and the muscle action of all the skeletal muscles in your body, you are unstoppable. You can find a way to work that particular muscle at any place. Trust me, I perform my exercises in confined spaces, which I am not at legal liberty to discuss or reveal on a social platform.
?
4.??? Motivation to Exercise in Solitude vs. Gym-Extrovert. ? Depending on your personality, you may perform more intense and productive sessions of exercises in solitude, or you may be what I call a “GYM-EXTROVERT”, who would not waste time talking at the gym, but find it extremely motivating to perform exercises in the presence of company.
?
5.??? Money Available. ??? The excess money that you have available also plays a crucial factor in determining the locality, gym, trainer, supplements, etc. I have been through all these phases since I have been exercising as a student and presently, I am a trainer. From making your dumbbell with plastic to stitching your weight vest for the calisthenic workout, ask me for ideas if you are interested.
?
6.??? Body Type – It is very important for you (or your trainer), to understand your body type to recommend a particular type of diet and exercise for you. The entire approach to the workout changes with a difference in body type.
?
7.??? Interest in Aesthetically Pleasing Skills – Calisthenic skills may seem extremely difficult at first, but over time, you will develop a beast list strength and coordination between your muscles to perform superhuman (almost superman style) skills. If you are interested in skills like handstand, handstand push-ups, flag, front lever, back lever, muscle ups, etc., you may want to spend a significant amount of your workout time in the street workout or bar workout. So, investing in a gym subscription may be overkill.
?
8.??? Medical Condition – If you are medically unfit to perform intense exercises, and are only suitable for light-hearted and light-intensity workouts for general health keeping, it may be prudent to invest in (1st recommendation, a professional trainer) some cheap lightweight dumbbells at home and go for a daily jog/ walk, instead of an overpriced gym where you will not be using half or more than half of its equipment.
?
9.??? Availability of Gym in nearby locality. ????? Some things are not in your control. In my case, and some of my clients’ cases, we do not have access to the gym daily. It becomes extremely important to come up with innovative solutions to cater to the body’s requirements.
?
I hope these few words would have helped you in rethinking your present strategy or choosing the right arena for the upcoming month and hereafter. I sincerely hope you do not fall prey to the sheep ideology and do what the masses do. This is a recurring expense and saving this will mean a big deal over time.
If you want different results than the mass, you have to approach it differently and diligently.
