DISC and DISC Plus profiling are widely used tools in organisational and personal development. Here are some of the top uses for these assessments:
Recruitment and Hiring
DISC profiles help organisations evaluate candidates' behavioral styles and how they might fit into existing teams or roles[1][3]. This can lead to more informed hiring decisions and better job-person fit.
I won't work with traditional recruitment firms who put profit before the person. When I demonstrate that an individual is unsuitable for a role, and the recruiter tells me that the client likes the person and they have a £3k fee riding on the hire, it sickens me.
Why? Because neither employer, nor candidate will be happy and could very quickly lead to illness and disease for the individual.
Team Building
By understanding team members' behavioural styles, organisations can:
- Improve communication between team members
- Enhance collaboration and productivity
- Reduce conflicts and misunderstandings[1][3][4]
One of my client projects saved the marriage and the life of one of their directors through a team review and reorganisation using DISC and mentoring with me as a key tool
Leadership Development
DISC assessments are valuable for:
- Identifying leadership potential
- Developing more effective leaders
- Helping leaders understand their management style and its impact on their team[2][4]
I am frequently invited to assess suitability for promotional, especially within professional services firms where much of my own leadership experience lies.
Sales and Customer Service
DISC profiles are especially useful for:
- Improving sales techniques by understanding customer and client personalities
- Enhancing customer/client service by adapting communication styles
- Building better rapport with clients and prospects[2][3]
Another client wanted to introduce a new service and it wasn't working. By demonstrating the different client types, they amended their strategy and went on to win 99% of proposals thereafter
Personal Development
On an individual level, DISC assessments can:
- Increase self-awareness
- Identify personal strengths and areas for improvement
- Help develop strategies for personal growth[2][3]
I've helped many couples to improve their intimate relationships and strengthen family bonds using my DISCPlus tool and feedback conversations.
Conflict Resolution
DISC profiles can aid in:
- Understanding the root causes of conflicts
- Developing strategies to resolve disagreements

- Improving overall team dynamics[2][4]
A friend asked me to intervene within a family situation where the three adult children were not speaking to each other and the parents were divorcing. Suffice to say that the parents, far from separating, created a successful business together, and the family were all on speaking terms following a review and understanding of the individual behaviour patterns
Communication Enhancement
By understanding different communication styles, individuals and teams can:
- Adapt their communication approach for better results
- Reduce misunderstandings and miscommunications
- Improve overall workplace relationships[1][3][4]
Client organisations who use DISCPlus behavioural profiling, find that there are fewer arguments in the workplace and overall harmony increases with the resulting health benefits within the team
Talent Management
Organisations use DISC profiles for:
- Succession planning
- Career development
- Identifying high-potential employees[3]
Succession planning using DISCPlus identifies WHO is suitable and IF they can cope with addition pressures resulting from promotion
Health and Wellbeing
DISCPlus behavioural profiles are unique because they can identify when someone is in trouble with their health and wellbeing, and we have the potential solutions to reverse their challenges.
DISC Plus profiles, can be particularly useful for:
- Understanding what drives individual performance
- Aligning personal values with organisational goals
- Enhancing employee engagement and retention[1]
By leveraging these insights, organisations can create more effective, harmonious, and productive work environments while supporting individual growth and development.
Some clients have reversed their health challenges simply by understanding how their behaviour has gotten them into trouble and learning how to make adjustments
