I recently spoke with a senior colleague who has worked a traditional 9-to-5 schedule his entire career—and still does today. In contrast, I’ve only followed that routine for about six years of my working life.
Looking ahead, I think our children will only know the 9-to-5 workday through our stories rather than experience it themselves.
For generations, the 9-to-5 model offered predictability, routine, and structure. But today, that structure feels increasingly out of sync with the way we live and work.
