I’ve been to a couple of conferences this year already and realized what a great opportunity for content creation they are!
So, if you’re getting ready for a conference, you're in luck because I've got some awesome tips for you whether you're getting ready to hit the stage and impress everyone with your genius or you're just excited to go soak up all the information and inspiration you can. Because it would be a great idea to make the most of your time there and create some amazing visual content while you're at it!
But first, let me just say that attending conferences can be a game-changer for your business. Not only do you get to connect with like-minded people and learn from experts in your field, but you also get to expand your brand's reach and visibility.
And as a branding photographer, I know the power of visual content to tell your story and showcase your expertise. That's why I'm excited to share these tips with you, so you can make the most of your conference experience and create content that will elevate your brand!
- Plan ahead: Before you even arrive at the conference, do some research on the speakers and sessions you'll be attending. This will help you prepare mentally and come up with ideas for the kind of content you want to create.
- Plan what to wear:?When you’re out at your next conference you are going to meet a ton of people and you only get one chance at first impressions. What you wear is an extension of your brand and energy and influences how you feel about yourself, and the cuter you feel, the more open you’re going to be about creating content, getting your picture taken, and even, posting it later. Now, I don’t mean for you to purchase a whole new wardrobe, but to think about your favorite pieces and see if those would be cool to wear for an event like this.
- Bring the right equipment: You don't need to have a fancy camera or equipment to create great visual content, but make sure you have the essentials like your phone, charger, maybe even a tiny LED light, and any other accessories you might need. And don't forget to pack light so you can move around easily!
- Be present: While it's tempting to spend all your time behind the camera, remember to be present at the moment and fully engage with the conference experience. Take notes, network, and soak up all the knowledge you can! The great thing about your notes is that they can become content too! Take a picture of them or take the text and make a graphic, and you have yourself more content!
- Capture the highlights: Whether it's a keynote speaker, a panel discussion, or a fun networking event, make sure to capture the highlights of the conference. These moments will be great for sharing on social media or your website.
- Get creative: Don't be scared to follow your instincts for your content. You could make a funny time-lapse movie, boomerang, or grab short clips for TikToks, Reels, and your Instagram Stories. The main thing, remember to have fun!
- Location Scout: Pay attention to the decor at the conference. Keep your eye out for neon signs, cool posters, or conference-specific artwork you can shoot in front of. Check if they have a photobooth and use it. These can make your content so much more fun!?
- Connect with the speakers: If you're attending a conference with some big names in your industry, make sure to connect with them and see if you can get a photo with them, everybody loves a selfie! The worst they can say is no, right? So go for it, these will help help you make a connection and when you share the content you can tag them, they may even share it in their stories too
- Collaborate with other attendees: Make friends! Don't be afraid to collaborate with other attendees and create content together. This is a great way to network and create some amazing content that showcases your brand and your personality. Going on stage? Ask your new friends to record you so then you can have that content too.
- Hire a photographer:?Consider hiring a branding photographer either before or after the conference. You’ll already have the cool outfits you brought for the conference, and probably already got your mani-pedi (I?know I do before going anywhere!) so a natural step is hiring a fabulous branding photographer to create gorgeous images that you can add to your content arsenal.
- BONUS: Express gratitude: Finally, don't forget to express gratitude for the opportunity to attend the conference and create amazing content. Gratitude is a powerful manifestation tool, and it will help you attract even more abundance and success to your business!
There you have it! I hope these tips will help you create some amazing visual content while you're attending your next conference and maximize your time there.?
Wishing you all the best on your conference adventures!
